On January 3, Europe's largest poker site, Titan Poker, kicked off its World Challenge, an 18 week long opportunity to win a free seat in the upcoming 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Titan Poker plans to send 5 players to the 2010 WSOP Main Event through its World Challenge promotion, a regional based poker league where online poker players compete against other online poker players in regional leagues, with individual and league performance tracked in a points based leader board style.

First there will be 2 rounds with players divided into 12 countries/regions where players will compete only against other online poker players from their region or country. Players can follow their progress on a leader board divided into the various participating countries/regions.

At the end of this whole 18 week adventure, the best performing 200 online poker players from those rounds advance to the next phase where they will sit down live to square off against each other in eight final rounds to determine the five players who will represent their countries and Titan Poker in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The 5 remaining players from these elimination rounds will win $13,000 prize packages that include the buy-in for the 2010 WSOP Main Event (worth $10,000), along with travel expenses and hotel accommodations during the event.

Even though it's not a totally free opportunity, this is one of the first opportunities poker players online have for getting into the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event for less than $10,000.
